Canopy by Hilton is the perfect location to enjoy a staycation in downtown Minneapolis. It’s located in the Mills District of Minneapolis, which offers historic buildings mixed in with modern buildings. Canopy by Hilton hotel has some history itself. Built in the early 1900’s, this building was originally owned by Thresher/Emerson-Newton Implement Company. The design of the building was to make two buildings appear as one, the exterior of the building hasn’t changed from the original, but the inside has a stunning modern twist with beautiful wood accents all over. This stay offers something for anyone whether you’re looking to cozy in and relax, or hit the town for some adventures. Plus, you can’t beat the downtown location view out your window or for exploration with their complimentary bike rentals. The best part? It’s dog friendly!
The room I stayed in, was the “2 Queen Beds Lofted Ceiling.” It was filled with charm and luxury, between the bathroom finishes, and the cozy room. You can book a room here. There is a fitness center on site, plus off street parking in a ramp, and a full coffee bar in your room.
The restaurant Umbra is located on site, which has amazing food and delicious drinks. The ambiance is fun, classy and inviting. I highly recommend a drink in the evening, and a savory delicious breakfast with a cup of hot chocolate. They also offer live music Thursdays-Sundays.
The roof top spa, sauna, cold shower and fire pit is a must add on amenity called Solus Spa! You can even book this out for private events. If you buy this as an add on, it comes with 2 hour access. The roof top offers views of downtown Minneapolis, and direct access to US Bank stadium. You can book this here.
A few fun things to do in the area are:
- Catch a concert or game at the U.S Bank Stadium
- Watch a show at the Guthrie Theatre, or go to the yellow room for a stunning view of the Mississippi and surrounding area
- Another spot to catch a show is the Armory
- Walk around the streets and go shopping
- Grab pizza from Pizza Luce, my favorite is the margarita!
